I'm A Contest Finalist!

OMG! I'm just reading my 200 plus e-mails, practically falling asleep at the keyboard, when I see this subject line "Fire and Ice Contest Finalists" and my heart stops. I entered the contest back in April with the first three chapters of Spoiled Rotten, but we weren't supposed to get results until the end of June.

Anyway, I scroll down...AND...there I am. I'm a finalist! I've never been a finalist before!!!

I'm completely stunned. And I may have to rethink going to Reno...is it too late??? (I love chocolate and champagne). Oh...and congrats to the other finalists. : )

Here are portions of the E-mail announcing the results:

CHICK LIT FINALISTS

Going Topless by Rene Hagar
Falling Uphill by Wendy Tokunaga
Spoiled Rotten by Karyn Lyndon

All finalists are invited to a Chicago-North sponsored "Chocolate
and Champagne Reception" Friday evening at Romance Writers of America National Conference in Reno, NV where the winners will be announced.

How cool! I was a finalist in a short story contest once and it's a thrill. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. I'd love to say I know Karen Lyndon when your book is published.

Dang, woman! You are on your way!

Did I not TELL you I liked that first chapter you have posted?!?

Sincere congratulations! (Wait while I wipe away the green tint that's breaking out all over me.

Hey Karyn,

Congratulations! That's awesome. Hope to see you at Reno!

Thanks to everyone.

Nankin: after you mentioned it, I have finaled in another contest. It was a short story murder mystery contest by Family Circle back in the early 90s and I was selected as one of top three finalist then. I never pursued publishing it. Maybe I'll post it here...It's called the Jump Rope Murder.

John, thanks, but the only way to qualify having a green tint is if YOU'VE entered a contest. Have you?

Elizabeth, I re-evaluated my finances this morning and it appears Reno is still very iffy unless I sell a book or something...lol

Welcome to Land of Credentials. I finaled in my first contest, The Merritt, and whoa..Cloud Freakin' NINE! And now you kind of HAVE to go to Reno. I'll even buy you a drink.

Congrats...I'm THRILLED for you!

Re: Reno. Hey, Brenda...can you teach me how to knit and crochet? And do you know anybody who wants an afghan (the blanket, not the people)?

Brenda said...

Hey Karyn. I can teach you, but I don't think I could over the internet! I don't know how to knit, though, only crochet. And heck, I'm still 10 afghans short and still looking for orders myself *sigh* I've made about $800 doing that though, so it does work.

It takes me about four weeks to finish just one. It's veryyyyy time consuming. But if you want to learn, I'll be happy to teach you!
