Soulmate

is there only one guy who
can be my perfect match?
and if I ever meet him
will he be within my grasp?

will I recognize him
when he comes into a room?
or is he in some far-off land
or someone else’s groom?

could I really find him
in a world of bytes and chips?
or do I need to zoom around
on jumbo jets and ships?

down through history
it's been a turbulent debate
maybe there is no such thing
as someone’s true soul mate

unless I find him then I guess
i’ll never really know
did I miss him by a hair
or did he never show

"Match" and "grasp?" That sounds like one of my attempts at a rhyme!

That barb aside, you've written another neat poem about a question people ponder all the time.

Good post.

Ahhh.. but is it about the 'match' or the process?

I am very thankful I'm no longer pondering that question though... your poem reminded me of some lonely nights that found me wondering if I'd ever find someone I wanted to really spend time with!!
